For Sellers

Supply of Items

All items are supplied by you to The Shelter on a consignment basis and we agree to hold your items for sale on this basis for the period of ‘The Shelter Recycle’ from the date the item/s are supplied to us. We will contact you regarding the return of unsold items, price adjustments and disposal or donation of unsold items after ‘The Shelter Recycle’ has ended.
The Shelter reserves the right to hold items on consignment for periods longer than the sale dates.

You will supply items, in good condition, for assessment by The Shelter to one of the drop-off locations around New Zealand, or courier, at your own expense, to The Shelter Head Office in Auckland.

Consignors must fill out the recycle form before dropping items off at any taylor store location in Newmarket, Wellington or Christchurch, The Shelter store locations in Ponsonby and Dunedin or courier to:

You must hold an account with a valid email and phone number with The Shelter in order to consign items. If you do not have one at the time of consigning, The Shelter will set one up.


Eligibility of Items

The Shelter aims to curate a collection of items with exceptional value, condition and quality. We will accept items from any of the brands stocked at The Shelter, along with a range of brands that sit within that calibre of designers.

Please note that the unaccepted brand list is to be used as a guide and not a final list. The Shelter reserves the right to accept or reject item/s during the processing period.

Processing

Your item/s will be assessed by our team to determine condition, price and suitability of the item/s. Items we choose to be accepted into ‘The Shelter Recycle’ sale will be itemised in an email to you with corresponding prices before commission fees.

The acceptance of any item/s and its pricing will be determined solely by The Shelter Recycle team. You will be contacted by recycle@theshelter.co.nz with the assessed price of your item/s for you to accept or decline. You have 48 hours to accept or decline the price.

If you accept the price:

Your item/s will be stored before being transported to The Shelter Auckland for ‘The Shelter Recycle’ between Friday 16th May 2025 and Sunday 18th May 2025.

If you don’t accept the price:

You can choose whether you would like to collect your item/s from one of our locations, or have us donate the item/s on your behalf to our chosen charity. If you would like your item/s posted back to you, The Shelter will arrange delivery at your expense. You will have seven days to collect your item from one of our stores before it is donated on your behalf.


Authentication

We may require that you provide us with either a valid original receipt or purchase and/ or a valid certificate of authenticity for any item/s supplied to us for sale valued above $1,500 NZD. The Shelter reserves the right to refuse an item based on its authentication, and to arrange for further independent verification in respect of any item supplied for sale at the consignors cost.


Pricing

We use extensive research and secondary market data to list products with the most competitive prices. We nevertheless reverse the price items at a price The Shelter Recycle team deem appropriate. You have the right to accept or decline the price offered by The Shelter within 48 hours of receiving the offer.


Negotiation and Discretionary Discount

We will always use our best endeavours to sell the item/s for the agreed prospective sale price. However, once the item is supplied to us for sale, you agree that The Shelter reserves the right to sell the item/s for a price up to 10% less than the agreed prospective sale price without first seeking consent to do so.


Commission & Payments

All item/s supplied by you to The Shelter are on consignment. The commission earned by you will be calculated on the final sale price for all item/s sold after GST (15%)

Consignors have two options for payment on item/s

· 50% of value in form taylor / The Shelter voucher to spend on their next purchase. (after GST)

· 40% of value as cash back (after GST)

Once ‘The Shelter Recycle’ period has ended, we will send you an email to let you know which item/s have sold, specifying the name of the item/s, the final sale price and the commission credit to be paid to your The Shelter account. Account payouts will be made within seven working days post notification of sales, with the total commission value added as store credit under your provided full name, email address and phone number.


Store Credit

If you choose to receive a payout in the from of The Shelter / taylor store credit , you will be issued the value of 50% of your item/s final sale price after GST as stipulated above.

This store credit can be used in all five taylor and The Shelter stores across New Zealand, online at theshelteronline.com or taylorboutique.co.nz . You will receive a unique code with the value of your credit.

The Shelter recycle credit can be used on any item under The Shelter and taylor. It cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer or discount (For example, no new customer discount code, or rewards vouchers), and cannot be used on existing laybys. Loyalty points cannot be earned on items purchased using recycle credit.


Item Return Charge

We agree to hold your items on consignment for the period of ‘The Shelter Recycle’ sale from the date the item/s are supplied to us. After the expiry of the consignment period, we will send you an email confirming the unsold items to be returned to you, specifying a seven day period from the date of that email for you to make arrangements for either the collection of the unsold items, return to you at your expense, or the donation on your behalf. If no such arrangements are made, or if the items are not collected from us, within seven days, we reserve the right to donate the unsold item/s to charity on your behalf and shall seek your consent to do so on your behalf.

The Shelter reserves the right to charge a minimum shipping charge for any items requiring a courier return.


Lost or Stolen

During the agreed consignment period, The Shelter takes full responsibility for any of your items which may be lost, stolen or damaged whilst in our care or control. In the unlikely event that this occurs, you will be paid the amount equivalent to the commission rate on the prospective agreed sale price for the items less the approved 10% discretionary discount.


Display of Sale Items

The items supplied by you for ‘The Shelter Recycle’ will be displayed for sale at The Shelter’s Auckland (Ponsonby) shop. Please note that not all items supplied by you will necessarily be listed for sale. At all times The Shelter reserves the right to determine, in its absolute discretion, how, where and on what platform to display the item/s for sale. Items supplied to The Shelter Second Circle must not be listed on any other channels at the time of the sale. For example, but not limited to, EBay, Trademe, Designer Wardrobe, Facebook Marketplace.


For Buyers

The Shelter Recycle

The Shelter Recycle will take place in The Shelter Auckland store (Ponsonby) between Friday 16th May 2025 and Sunday 18th May 2025 during store hours.

The sale is in-store only, however The Shelter may list items on social media platforms during the sale.


Payment and Processing

We currently accept Mastercard, Visa, American Express, Eftpos and Afterpay only. In-store laybys are not accepted on any ‘The Shelter Recycle’ purchase.

You must hold an account with a valid email and phone number at The Shelter to make a purchase during ‘The Shelter Recycle’.


Condition

The Shelter Recycle items are sold in “as is” condition including colour, style, condition, design features and sizing. We have made every effort to display items as accurately as possible. Any flaws are listed on the items tag.


Returns Policy

All sales of The Shelter Recycle items are final. We do not accept returns, so please inspect items thoroughly before purchasing. This includes but is not limited to items purchased in-store and over social media platforms.


Pricing

We use extensive research and secondary market data to list products with the most competitive price based on condition and RRP. The Shelter reserves the right to change prices for products displayed at any item before the item is purchased. The price of the products shown excludes any shipping or alteration fees if applicable.
